Isabella Clara Dinnewet (1725-1760)

Isabella Clara Dinnewet, was born in Sint Laureins, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium on 2 December 1725[i] and baptized the next day. She was the daughter of Cornelius and Francisca (Glas) Dinnewet. She married Petrus Joannes Du Four on 25 October 1749[ii] in Sint Laureins. Petrus Joannes was born 25 December 1721[iii] in Sint Laureins. Isabella died on 6 May 1760[iv] in childbirth and her daughter, Petronella, lived only 2 days and died on 8 May 1760[v] in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium.

The name Dinnewet is spelled numerous ways including Dinevet, Dunnewet, Dunevet, and Dynevet. I still have not located Isabella’s baptismal information in the baptismal index. I am sure there may be more spelling variations out there. I managed to locate her baptismal record by starting in January 1724 and looking entry by entry through the baptismal register. I had information on her age from 2 baptismal records and her burial entry. In 1755, she is listed as 28, in 1758 as 30 and in 1760 as 36. I calculated that she was born sometime between 1724 and 1728 and found her in 1725.

iv.                 Judocus Du Four, b. and bap. on 7 Mar 1758  in Sint Laureins and d. 21 Sep 1803 in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo. He m. on 13 Jun 1789 in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo Helena Van Schoonacker, b. 18 Jul 1768 in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo and d. 25 Dec 1796 in Sint Laureins.

v.                   Petronella Du Four, b. and bap. 6 May 1760 and d. 8 May 1760 in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo.

Petrus Joannes Du Four (1721-?)

Petrus Joannes Du Four was born in Sint Laureins, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium on 25 December 1721[i] and baptized the next day. He was the son of Judocus and Petronella (Bruneel) Du Four. He married three times. His first wife was Cecilia De Bonte whom he married before 1740. Cecilia died on 14 December 1748[ii] in Sint Laureins. He married second on 25 October 1749[iii] Isabella Clara Dinnewet who was born 2 December 1725[iv] in Sint Laureins and died 6 May 1760[v] in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium. His third wife was Maria Anna Goossens who he married on 22 November 1762[vi] in Sint Laureins.

Petrus Joannes, who apparently preferred to be called Jan since some records list him by this name was the youngest of 6 children and the only one who survived to adulthood. He was born the same month his father died. His mother, however, lived until at least 1762 since she was present at his third marriage.

Judocus Teirlinck (1725-1801)

Judoca De Kuyper (1726-1781)

Judocus Teirlinck was born in Kaprijke, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium on 28 April 1725[i] and died there on 24 December 1801 (3 Nivose Year 10)[ii]. He was the son of Joannes and Livina (Van Hee) Teirlinck. He married Judoca De Kuyper on 2 May 1750 in Kaprijke. Judoca De Kuyper was born 9 November 1726[iii] in Lembeke, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium and died in Kaprijke on 30 Jun 1781[iv].

            I have predominantly used Flemish parish registers for the information for this family. In the late 19^th century, the Belgian government indexed all parish registers as a means of extending civil registration back to the early 1600’s. These indexes can be found in the Family History Library Catalog under each locality as either Index op Dopen or Klapper op Dopen where “dopen” refers to baptism. Marriages are either huwelijken or trouwen and deaths begraven or overlijden.

            I found some errors in the index for Kaprijke. I was unable to locate a marriage record for Judocus and Judoca. I interpreted the index to say they married on 2 May 1750 but could not locate a Teirlinck/De Kuyper marriage on this date. Their first son was baptized on 1 July 1750 and the record states that the parents were married so they were married prior to July 1^st. I scanned the parish register back to May of 1749 without luck. Also, Maria Catherine was identified as a daughter of this couple with a baptism date of 10 Nov 1762. This is the same date as is given for Petronella Teirlinck. I found a baptism for Petronella on that date but none for Maria Catherine. There is an 11-year gap between Petronella and Maria Francisca; it is likely Maria Catherine fits in here. Because of the large gap in births, it is possible that this family moved to a different town for a time.

i.     Andreas Teirlinck, b. 30 June 1750 and baptized 1 July 1750.

ii.    Jacobus Teirlinck, b. 9 October 1754 and baptized 10 October 1754.

iii.   Petrus Joannes Teirlinck, b. 2 September 1757 and baptized the same day.

iv.    Maria Anna Teirlinck, b. 8 May 1760 and baptized the same day.

v.     Petronella Teirlinck, b. 9 November 1762 and baptized the following day.

vi.    Maria Catherine, bap. 9 Nov 1762.

vii.   Maria Francisca Teirlinck, b. and bap. on 16 February 1773 and d. 10 March 1846. She married on 2 May 1792 in Kaprijke, Joseph Eecke, born in Kaprijke 9 September 1765 and d. 28 May 1825.
