Elizabeth
Dinneweth (1717-1766)
Jan Cornelis Van De Velde was born in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo, Oost
Vlaanderen, Belgium on 2 June 1732[1]
and was baptized the same day. He was the son of Petrus and Joanna (Landuyt)
Van De Velde. He married (1) on 28 January 1753[2]
in Sint Laureins,, Oost Vlaanderen, Belgium Elizabeth Dinneweth, (2) on 10 April
1768[3]
Angelina Willems in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo and (3) Joanna Theresia De Roover on 24
May 1794 [4]in
Sint Laureins.
Elizabeth Dinneweth was born in Sint-Laureins on 14 August
1717[5]
and baptized on the 15th. She was the daughter of Jacob and Judoca (De
Pauw) Dinneweth. She married (1) about 1736 in Sint Laureins,, Ludovicus
Bertels b. 1712 and d. 1749 and (2) Jan Cornelis Van De Velde. She died in St.
Laureins on 23 December 1766.[6]
With Elizabeth Dinneweth, I have found my first instance of
pedigree collapse. This occurs when one couple has more than one child who is
your direct ancestor. In this case Elizabeth and Isabella Clara Dinneweth (ancestor
105) are first cousins, both the granddaughters of Philip and Joanna Janneken
(Gothem) Dinneweth. This means that I have one less set of sixth great
grandparents than I should have. Pedigree collapse is very common and
eventually affects everyone. There were not enough people living 1000 years ago
to ensure that everyone has unrelated grandparents.
